We come to earth alone and leave it alone. We belong to no one but our thoughts, beliefs, values, actions, and emotions.
It’s mind-boggling how we find it easy to abandon ourselves and what we stand for in exchange for preserving a toxic relationship or a values-mismatch environment.
We’re deceived into thinking that our need to belong to external factors like a community or an environment supersedes our need to belong to our own selves.
It’s easier because the cost of being an outcast appears to be too high for us to afford, little did we know that we’re paying a much higher price for dissolving who we are in life’s mix of conformity.
As soon as we feel like we’re putting in an effort to belong, it means that we’re putting in an effort to abandon something about ourselves. Belonging should be effortless so just take care of knowing and being who you are, and belonging will take care of itself.
